FAQ

How do I place an order?

You have 3 options:

  1. Fill out the handy order form on the website.
  2. Send an email to info@sweetboybakery.com
  3. Send a message to me via Whatsapp at 06-47857496

When you contact me via email or Whatsapp, please be sure to provide as much information as possible: the date you need the cake for, the occasion, how many servings (smallest cake is 10-12 servings), the flavor and any design wishes. I love pictures! They’re very helpful. Please also be sure to include your phone number when emailing!!

How far in advance should I place an order?

In general I recommend you place your order at 2 weeks in advance, though sometimes I am able to accommodate a last-minute order, so it doesn’t hurt to ask! For wedding cakes, please order at least two months in advance.

I have contacted you via one of the above methods. Now what?

If I need more information, I will get in touch with you. If you have provided enough information for me to put together a price quote, thank you very much!! I will then send a price quote to you, and should you wish to place an order, then I will send you payment information. Please be sure to pay within a timely fashion, since only after payment is made is your order confirmed. Functionally this means that if you do not pay within 48 hours then you risk losing the reservation for your desired date, and I may have to give your spot to someone else.

What if I know I want to order a cake with you but I’m not sure yet about a design or other details?

No problem! If you know the date for pick-up/delivery, then you can reserve the date by putting down a non-refundable deposit of €25. We can then continue hashing out the details together.

I contacted you via email/website/Whatsapp but haven’t heard back yet. When will I get a reply?

I aim to respond to messages as quickly as I can and usually within 24-48 hours. I understand it can be frustrating to send a message and not hear back immediately, but please be patient: I run this business entirely on my own, which means I am the only one who bakes, decorates, cleans, does administration, orders supplies and has contact with customers. Especially when I am baking/decorating, I have to concentrate on the project in front of me and cannot also answer messages at the same time. I think you will appreciate this level of focus when I am making a cake for you! 🙂

I sent an email and it’s been more than 24 hours, but still no response. When will I get a reply?

If you sent an email to me and have not heard back within 48 hours, please check your spam folder. Sometimes my replies get sent there, which is really annoying for everyone. This is also why I ask that if you send me an email, please be sure to include your phone number so that I can get in touch with you that way as well.

Can I change my order?

Depends on how far in advance you contact me! If you notify me more than a week before the delivery date, then I will try my best to accommodate changes within reason, and depending on availability of needed supplies. If there is only one week or less until the delivery date, then changes are no longer possible.

Can I cancel my order?

Cancellation up to one week prior to delivery date: if you paid in full, you can receive 50% of the price paid. If you only paid a 50% deposit, then you forfeit that deposit.

If you wish to cancel one week or less prior to the delivery date, then you forfeit the entirety of the price of the product(s). Please see the General Terms and Conditions for more information.

Can I order a smaller cake?

The smallest cakes I make are 15 cm/6 in in diameter and serve 10-12 people. The only exception to this is the smash cake, which is intended just for babies celebrating their first birthdays 🙂

How do I store and enjoy the cake?

All my cakes are best enjoyed at room temperature. Please store your cake safely in a cool location until about 2-3 hours before serving. Since my cakes are made with butter, they need time to come to room temperature before serving, as butter becomes quite hard when it is cold.

How long is the cake good for?

I recommend eating the cake within 3 days for optimal taste and texture. However, when stored properly in the refrigerator, the cakes are probably still good for up to 5 days. When properly wrapped and sealed in an airtight container, the cakes can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
